Business Philosophy

Financials

While Profit & Loss is important, the emphasis is on achieving positive cash-flow to ensure financial sustainability. Each school is allocated an annual budget by its own Board in collaboration with HIMS and is held accountable to meet it.

Business Model

  • Property Company (PropCo) – the land and buildings of the existing schools are owned by AIS Ltd and in future, new schools may be owned by local investors in part or completely.
  • Operating Company (OpCo) – HIMS, wholly owned by AIS Ltd, is the only operator although in local contexts HIMS may work through a wholly owned subsidiary.
  • In a newly established school, the OpCo would fund the fit-out (furniture, fittings and equipment) and the working capital needed to appoint the teachers.
  • If the PropCo in future were not to be AIS Ltd, the School would rent the land and buildings from the PropCo on a long term lease.
  • The School pays the Opco a management fee and a royalty fee to Harrow School.
